Cost and time-effective investigation
Historical data gathered at the WWTP, or flow measurements of sewer lines recorded for daily operation, are analyzed to estimate areas of high levels of RDI&I. Analysis takes four to six months, and costs on average 10 million yen in Japan (US $9,000).
Prioritizing I&I remediation
Maps showing locations of high RDI&I in the service area, narrowed down to an area of 500 x 500 meters, are useful for prioritizing I&I repair work.
Easy verification
The effectiveness of I&I remediation can be verified by comparing results of I&I investigation of before and after sewer rehabilitation, displayed on color-filled contour maps.
