The Essence of Yamatake's R&D
Yamatake engineers are energized by challenge, driven to leadership, and inspired with the pioneering spirit. Developing world-class technologies, we are making significant strides for our business while at the same time contributing to society.
Challenge: Yamatake is continually expanding the technological envelope, as demonstrated by our spherical SAW sensors, nanosilicon devices, TIDAS next-generation fluid measurement technology, and in-situ biochip synthesis.Leadership: Yamatake is taking the lead in cutting-edge research conducted jointly with over fifty universities and other intuitions in Japan and overseas. Working closely with research organizations around the world, we have made steady progress in transforming laboratory results into practical applications – advanced technologies and innovative business projects.
Pioneering spirit: Yamatake has earned a reputation for harnessing world-first technologies to develop original business projects ahead of the competition. Examples include our sapphire pressure sensor, TCBM prediction technology, and VISUACT for the detection of unauthorized Internet access.
Yamatake's new technologies are widely renowned, as evidenced by such awards as Technology Award of the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers, Japan (2005) (TIDAS), the 2004 New Products Development Award of The Society of Instrument and Control Engineers (MicroflowTM sensor), and the 2004 Nikkei BP Technology Award (VISUACT).
Contributing to SocietyWith the measurement and control technologies that Yamatake has developed over many decades, we are contributing to society in the fields of building systems, advanced automation (for the support of manufacturing industries), and life automation (for enhancing the environment and the quality of people's lives).
R&D Strategies
Yamatake is actively developing new technologies, with emphasis on the following:
- Microsystems
Yamatake has always been an industry leader in microdevice technologies, as demonstrated by our MicroflowTM and sapphire sensors. In future we will continue to play a pioneering role in the development of new microdevices, microsystems, and biochips. - Measurement & control
Yamatake has also been a pioneer in the fields of heat measurement/control and fluid measurement/control. Moreover, we are committed to continuing development of these technologies. - Measurement data processing (prediction, visualization)
In the industrial society of the future, what will be especially important is technology that can assist human decision-making processes by making predictions from past data, developing conclusions and visualizing trends. With such unique products as TCBM, RSM-S and Wave Doctor, Yamatake will continue to contribute to the progress of such automation technologies. - Next-generation automation
Yamatake has been among the first companies in the automation industry to apply the latest network technologies such as IP-V6, open systems such as Linux, database technologies, wireless technologies, and secure technologies. We will continue to work on the development of next-generation automation systems. - Biotechnology
In joint research with CEA-Leti (Laboratory for Electronic and Information Technologies of the French Atomic Energy Commission), Yamatake is developing innovative biochips as well as the technology required for their synthesis. - Microprocessing
For the manufacture of high-performance sensors, Yamatake is also developing technologies for the microprocessing and precision bonding of materials such as stainless steel, silicon and glass that are difficult to cut and grind.
