Yamatake Releases Two-wire Electromagnetic Flowmeter Series Compliant with European, North American, Chinese, Korean Standards
Tokyo, September 14, 2007 - Yamatake Corporation announces the start of sales of its “MagneW Two-wire PLUS+” series electromagnetic flowmeters, which are now compliant with European, North American, Chinese and Korean standards.
Since releasing the MagneW Two-wire PLUS+ series as a global strategic product in 2002, Yamatake has successfully increased its sales volume. These two-wire electromagnetic flowmeters have been well received by customers for their energy saving operation, consuming just 1/100 of the power needed for four-wire electromagnetic flowmeters, as well as for their easy installation and low-cost wiring. Orders received for fiscal 2006 totaled about 4,000 units.
In North America (USA and Canada), Yamatake launched sales of the MagneW Two-wire PLUS+ models compliant with the Factory Mutual (FM) standard for explosion-proof and non-incendive equipment, and with the Canadian Standard Association (CSA) standard for pressure-resistant, explosion-proof and non-incendive equipment, in 2004. Since then, the Company has gained top share of two-wire electromagnetic flowmeters in the North American market and continues to increase its share. In Korea, Yamatake had already started sales of explosion-proof products compliant with the Korea Occupational Safety & Health Agency (KOSHA).
For this sales launch, Yamatake obtained compliance with both European and Chinese standards and improved the products as needed, for further expansion in the global market. For the European market, the Company obtained the “Ex mb ia IIC T6 to T4” and “Ex nA II T6 to T4” certifications according to the ATEX Directive (European explosion protection standard), while the “Ex dm ia IIC T6 to T4” and “Ex nA II T6 to T4” certifications according to the NEPSI (Chinese explosion protection standard) were earned for the Chinese market. These flowmeters are now applicable to environments where explosion protection and safety are valued, such as in the chemicals market. Furthermore, ahead of market demands, these flowmeters are compliant with the RoHS Directive for six specific substances, although the Directive does not cover electromagnetic flowmeters.
The acquisition of compliance with European and Chinese standards means that the MagneW Two-wire PLUS+ have fully satisfied the safety and explosion-protection standards and directives in Japan, Korea, China, North America (USA and Canada), and Europe. In addition to reinforcing product specifications, Yamatake will make further efforts to expand sales of its two-wire electromagnetic flowmeters, that have already exceeded a global market share of 40%, targeting a sales volume of 6,000 units or more and sales amount of 1 billion yen or more in three years. For all types of electromagnetic flowmeters, the Company targets a worldwide sales volume of 30,000 units and sales amount of 6 billion yen in three years.
