Yamatake Corporation achieves record sales for electromagnetic flowmeters

By the end of March 2004, Yamatake Corporation's sales of electromagnetic flowmeters reached approximately 11,500 units for FY2003. This marks a new record for the company, which has been in the electromagnetic flowmeter business for 29 years.

Contributing to this achievement were 3 new models that were unveiled in the 2002-2003 period. Proving to be the most successful has been a 2-wire electromagnetic flowmeter, the MagneW Neo (sold overseas as the MagneW Two-Wire PLUS). The number of units sold was approximately 1,700 - more than double the figure for the previous year. Also, the number of low-cost electromagnetic flowmeters (including water-only models and heat-value flowmeters) sold was approximately 1,000; this is more than 1.5 times the figure for the previous year.

Sales of the conventional MagneW Series, which has been available since 1996, have not suffered; indeed, there was a slight increase over the previous year. Of special note is the fact that the number of 2-wire models that were sold in the chemicals market - where sales of Yamatake electromagnetic flowmeters have been stagnant - was more than twice the figure for the previous year. At the same time, Yamatake increased deliveries for applications bundled with machinery . In monetary terms too, sales have apparently topped 3.3 billion yen, exceeding the initial forecast.

In FY2004, Yamatake plans to sell 13,000 units, with special emphasis on expanding sales overseas. According to the 2004 long-term business plan, we aim to grow our business so as to achieve total electromagnetic flowmeter sales of 20,000 units; this would represent a business worth 4.5 billion yen in FY2006.
