TOKYO, JAPAN, May 31, 2001--Yamatake Corporation announced today that
it has established a wholly-owned European subsidiary, Yamatake Europe N.V.,
which will begin operations on June 1, 2001.
Located in Brussels, Belgium, Yamatake Europe aims to penetrate the growing
natural gas market in Europe. It will also strengthen its position in the
semiconductors and electrical/electronic markets by utilizing Yamatake's
sophisticated technologies and applications know-how.
Yamatake made its debut in the European gas market in April 2001 with
the release of the HGC303 heat value gas chromatograph. With this product
Yamatake Europe intends to capture a large share of the gas analysis market,
which is expected to grow rapidly due to deregulation.
Yamatake Europe was established to respond swiftly to changes in Europe's
business environment. It will strengthen its presence in Europe through
partnerships with local distributors and engineering firms that have expertise
in the natural gas business. Working closely with these partner companies,
Yamatake Europe aims to reach customers all across the continent, and provide
unique products and comprehensive services that meet their specific needs.
Sales are expected to reach 600 million yen (5.7 million Euro) in the initial
year, and rise to 4 billion yen (38 million Euro) by 2005.
Yamatake Corporation Brussels Branch will be closed permanently. Yamatake
Europe will continue to serve the Brussels branch customers who are mainly
in semiconductors and electrical/electronic markets. |
