TOKYO, December 25, 2009 - Yamatake Corporation of the azbil Group has announced the January 2010 opening of its Abu Dhabi branch office in order to develop and expand its business, primarily in the field of building automation (BA), in the capital of the UAE.

Business in the Middle East has not been immune to the effects of the global financial crisis dating from late 2008; in fact, Dubai's economy has suffered a sharp recession. Nevertheless, Abu Dhabi is an oil producer and it is continuing a robust investment program in district cooling projects and the construction of new office buildings, hotels, etc. Making the most of the opportunities available in the UAE, the new Abu Dhabi branch office will actively develop its BA-focused business, aiming to achieve sales of 1 billion yen in 5 years.

Motivated by the Group philosophy of human-centered automation, the azbil Group will be bolstering and expanding its overseas business in the years ahead, designated as the "period of growth" in the Medium-Term Plan that starts in FY2010. For its business in the Middle East the Group will be enhancing its ability to provide comprehensive solutions, supplying customers with highly reliable products and a superior service.
