TOKYO, October 29, 2009 – Yamatake Corporation of the azbil Group, having made an application to the Indian Ministry of Finance regarding a proposed direct investment aimed at establishing an overseas affiliate in India, has announced that official permission has now been granted.

Yamatake is developing its operations with the aim of achieving high growth in its international business, particularly in the priority markets of China and Southeast Asia. In July of 2008, Yamatake opened an India Representative Office in the Gurgaon district of Haryana, adjacent to the capital New Delhi. The main duties of this office have been to assess potential demand associated with the building of factories by Japanese manufacturers, to develop a network of distributors based on market research, and to provide sales and technical support.

Based on the information gathered, it was decided to establish a wholly owned Indian affiliate in order to provide life cycle solutions to the process automation (PA) and factory automation (FA) markets – energy, materials and automobiles, etc. – that are supporting the remarkable growth of the Indian economy. Another objective is to lay the groundwork for entry into the commercial building automation (BA) market, which is expected to expand in coming years. The new affiliate will make it possible to enhance the services provided to Japanese companies in India and also to develop a customer base among local companies attracted by azbil's product quality and its ability to offer solutions to the issues faced by customers. At present, preparations are underway to enable the new affiliate to commence operations at the start of 2010.
