Message from the CEO

To realize safety, comfort and fulfillment in people’s lives through “human-centered automation,” and contribute to the global environment.

Yamatake’s Second Century

Since its founding in 1906, the Yamatake Group has been serving both society and customers by providing solutions to saving energy and resources, based on its sophisticated measurement and control technologies and extensive experience and know-how acquired over many years. As we mark our 100th anniversary, our operating environment is undergoing major change, and society’s and customers’ expectations of us are also changing. These conditions prompted us to clarify our raison d’etre and readdress how we can live up to it.

To realize safety, comfort and fulfillment
in people’s lives through “human-centered automation,”
and contribute to the global environment.

This is our new group philosophy. Our measurement and control technologies will remain the cornerstone of this company. Our approach, however, will change from one that has centered on the control of machinery and equipment, to an approach of ensuring that people feel a sense of satisfaction. In other words, our aim is to enrich people’s lives and help to create better working environments. To realize safety and assurance at home and at work, yielding a sense of security. To realize a sense of comfort that facilitates activity. And to realize a sense of fulfillment when goals are achieved. Helping to bring people a sense of safety, comfort and fulfillment, and contributing to the global environment— this is the role of measurement and control and the value we must create.

Furthermore, we introduced the symbol “azbil” (Automation•Zone•Builder) representing our corporate philosophy as well as the value we create as a group.

In order to realize our group philosophy based on azbil, we must know our customers and use that knowledge to create value with customers at their worksites. We must understand what makes people happy and deliver technologies, products and services to help realize that. We must continuously pursue innovation utilizing measurement and control. And we must continue to rise to the challenge of creating a corporate culture that can transform in response to the expectations of customers, local communities, society and shareholders, thinking all the time of what mark we should leave on the future and taking action in that regard. We must put greater stock in these things than ever before.

Expectations of society

The Yamatake Group has been creating and expanding its Building Automation, Advanced Automation and Life Automation businesses. From here on, we will continue to work toward realizing a sustainable society by utilizing our core measurement and control technologies and resources acquired over the years, and contribute to the expectations of society through our business, which we perceive as our corporate social responsibility (CSR). We will also provide safe, high-quality and value-added products and services, and promote the “human-centered automation” business.

Moreover, recognition of CSR has necessitated preparations for the trend of environmental changes anticipated in ISO standardization, the Company Law of Japan already enforced, the Financial Instruments and Exchange Law taking effect, and all sorts of business risks. We therefore established the frameworks for corporate governance, compliance and risk management, and will enhance the structure and operations of our Internal Control System.

Environmental initiatives

A critical issue for humankind in the 21st century is how to cope with such environmental issues as global warming, waste disposal, environmental pollution and resource depletion. The Yamatake Group has been voluntarily reducing its environmental impact through its business activities, as well as utilizing its measurement and control technologies to provide products, services and solutions that contribute to solving environmental and energy issues facing its customers and society.

From here on, we will step up our environmental solutions, such as for energy conservation, from a more global viewpoint. Our “human-centered automation” is an important technology in harmony with social values, such as structural changes in society, advances in manufacturing and research activities, environmental preservation and energy conservation, and we are certain that this technology will be indispensable to society and people’s lives, as well as the global environment.

The Yamatake Group will continue to serve society by utilizing its sophisticated measurement and control technologies, and play a leading role in realizing a sustainable society.
