On-site guidance meeting with the supplier
The Yamatake Eco Program was launched to promote and improve the environmental preservation activities of our suppliers. It is based on Eco Action 21 that is widely promoted by Japans Ministry of the Environment, and was customized by Yamatake as a simple method to enable the suppliers to realize their contribution to the environment, set goals and take action. In FY2005 thirty-six suppliers joined the Eco Program; since then the number of suppliers requesting to join this program has increased.
Lectures and on-site guidance are provided by 10 instructors from Yamatakes Environmental Protection Office and the Yamatake Groups Procurement sections. Suppliers participating in the Eco Program are diverse, such as a supplier whose increased awareness for improving their environmental activities has resulted in activities to acquire ISO 14001 certification, and another supplier aiming to raise environmental awareness throughout the company by involving all employees in environmental preservation activities. Even a small company with three employees is taking part in this Eco Program. Yamatake is supporting these suppliers by providing them with the most appropriate methods and means to achieve their goals. We have sensed an increase in environmental awareness from the on-site guidance meetings. Going forward, we will rotate the PDCA (plan, do, check, action) cycle for improving environmental preservation together with our suppliers. We will also promote the Yamatake Groups green procurement that contributes to society by strengthening managements of Yamatake and suppliers and expanding our environmental activities with suppliers.
